Edit the short paragraph titled "It's Football Time." Look for grammar, usage, punctuation, and spelling.
Finish Peer Revision
Spend 10 more minutes working with your partner from yesterday to revise essays. REMEMBER: Read it TWICE! The first read should be for G.U.M. (Grammar, usage, and mechanics), and the second read should be for content. Complete the checklist.
This is what I live by and will continue setting impossible goals over and over until the day I die.
With a highlighter, mark one sentence on a partner's draft that isn't clear, sounds awkward, or should be rephrased.
As a small group of 4, help each person rewrite the highlighted sentence.
On your own: Was it hard for a partner to pick just one sentence? You may have had a problem with awkward writing! Read your essay aloud to yourself and look for other areas that should get some rewording.
Read and Respond
Read the article, "The Writing Assignment that Changed Lives." Think about the ways that society's expectations and stereotypes can affect us. We will begin talking tomorrow about stereotypes and the effects of stereotypes on the way we live our lives.
Respond- On a half sheet of paper, write the following:
1) What dream/goal do I have for my future?
2) What obstacles will stand in the way of my dream?
3) How can I overcome these obstacles?
